Countryside Landscaping is a full service landscaping company specializing in irrigation, hardscape, landscape installation, landscape lighting, and property maintenance. We have been servicing DeMotte and greater NW Indiana since 1993. It was at that time that John and Starla VanSoest opened the doors shortly after John had finished his studies of Landscape Architecture at the University of Illinois. For the first few years all tasks were carried out by John and Starla along with the help of John’s dad, Bill VanSoest, and some seasonal help. As the company grew new services and staff were added to include lawn irrigation, lawn maintenance and water features along with a flourishing garden center. While the company was growing, so too was the VanSoest family with the addition of Brent VanSoest in 1994 followed by Brandon and Hunter. Those three little redheads could most often be found at the garden center or riding around with their dad as they grew up in the landscape industry. Brent and Hunter both continued with Countryside after completing their studies at Purdue University.
Since
Since 2010 the VanSoest family has adapted and grown the company through local acquisitions and the continual pursuit of excellence by leveraging great people and service. The aforementioned acquisitions include the additions of EBS Irrigation in Wheatfield (2018) and Gardner’s Greenhouse in Lake Village (2019). Faith, family and excellence have been the pillars which Countryside was built upon. In 2022, the Countryside family partnered with Belstra Farm & Garden to expand the retail offering at the DeMotte location. As we continue to serve our community we will always seek ways to honor God and make our community a better place.
